Different Colored Shingles

Here’s why you’ll see this: often, a roofer will run out of the desired shingle for the customer and use what’s available. Also, there can be issues regarding mold or algae that discolor certain parts of the roof and represent trapped water under shingles. The color of your roof should be uniform.

When straight edges are actually on more of a “slant,” or you see a bunch of bubbles under the shingles of the roof, that’s generally a pretty good sign there’s a problem. It could be related to installation–that’s commonly the case–or it could be related to something else, like foundational shift or trapped moisture. The point is, if you can see curves or flaws, there’s a problem.

Leaks In Spots Conforming To Structural Irregularities

If you’re in a part of the house beneath where you know there are some roofing problems, and when it rains, there’s a leak, well, you’ve probably got roofing issues. The issue could require completely tearing out the old roofing and installing something new. You want to have professional appraisers examine the situation to avoid spending too much unnecessarily.

A Lack Of Uniformity In Appearance: Bubbles, Missing Shingles, Etc.

Beyond obvious flaws and structural issues, look for places with missing shingles, look for broken shingles, look for damage from fallen tree limbs, and look for areas that strongly contrast the rest of the roof.
